江蘇工業(yè)學(xué)院坐落于經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)達(dá)、人文薈萃的江南歷史文化名城——江蘇省
常州市。學(xué)校始建于1978年，原名為
南京化工學(xué)院
無(wú)錫分院、常州分院，是一所在改革開(kāi)放之初創(chuàng)辦的省屬全日制本科院校，建校目的是為我國(guó)石油化工行業(yè)中的揚(yáng)子石化、金陵石化、儀征化纖等特大型企業(yè)培養(yǎng)大批專(zhuān)業(yè)人才。1981年經(jīng)國(guó)務(wù)院批準(zhǔn)，正式定名為江蘇化工學(xué)院。1984年實(shí)行江蘇省人民政府和中國(guó)石油化工總公司聯(lián)合辦學(xué)機(jī)制，1992年正式成為中國(guó)石油化工集團(tuán)公司（原中國(guó)石油化工總公司）管理的部屬院校，并更名為江蘇石油化工學(xué)院。2000年起，學(xué)校實(shí)行中央與地方共建、以江蘇省管理為主的管理體制，2002年更名為江蘇工業(yè)學(xué)院。經(jīng)過(guò)30多年的建設(shè)和發(fā)展，學(xué)校已成為以工為主、理工結(jié)合、文理滲透、多學(xué)科協(xié)調(diào)發(fā)展的、具有鮮明辦學(xué)特色的普通高等院校。學(xué)校2003年取得碩士學(xué)位授予權(quán)，實(shí)現(xiàn)了由本科教育到研究生培養(yǎng)的跨越?，F(xiàn)有全日制研究生和本科生18000多人（含獨(dú)立學(xué)院）。設(shè)有10個(gè)二級(jí)學(xué)院、體育部、繼續(xù)教育學(xué)院以及懷德學(xué)院。有2個(gè)一級(jí)學(xué)科碩士學(xué)位授權(quán)點(diǎn)，17個(gè)二級(jí)學(xué)科碩士學(xué)位授權(quán)點(diǎn)。有44個(gè)本科專(zhuān)業(yè)，分屬工、理、管、經(jīng)、文、法等6大學(xué)科門(mén)類(lèi)。有6個(gè)省部級(jí)重點(diǎn)學(xué)科，3個(gè)省級(jí)優(yōu)秀學(xué)科梯隊(duì)，2個(gè)省部級(jí)重點(diǎn)實(shí)驗(yàn)室，4個(gè)省級(jí)工程中心，2個(gè)國(guó)家級(jí)特色專(zhuān)業(yè)，2個(gè)省級(jí)品牌專(zhuān)業(yè)，4個(gè)省級(jí)特色專(zhuān)業(yè)，14門(mén)省級(jí)精品（優(yōu)秀）課程，8個(gè)省級(jí)實(shí)驗(yàn)教學(xué)示范中心，1個(gè)省級(jí)高等教育人才培養(yǎng)模式創(chuàng)新實(shí)驗(yàn)基地。近五年來(lái)，學(xué)校獲1項(xiàng)國(guó)家級(jí)高等教育成果二等獎(jiǎng)，2項(xiàng)省級(jí)高等教育教學(xué)成果一等獎(jiǎng)。2006年，學(xué)校順利通過(guò)教育部組織的本科教學(xué)工作水平評(píng)估并獲得優(yōu)秀。學(xué)校擁有一支開(kāi)拓創(chuàng)新、樂(lè)于奉獻(xiàn)的教職工隊(duì)伍?，F(xiàn)有教職工1300多人，其中，專(zhuān)任教師近900人，高級(jí)專(zhuān)業(yè)技術(shù)職務(wù)410多人，碩士及以上學(xué)位655人。2人入選“新世紀(jì)百千萬(wàn)人才工程”國(guó)家級(jí)人選，3人為教育部高等學(xué)校本科教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)委員，2人為全國(guó)高等學(xué)校安全工程學(xué)科教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)委員，23人獲國(guó)務(wù)院政府特殊津貼；2人獲“全國(guó)教育系統(tǒng)勞動(dòng)模范”和“全國(guó)教育系統(tǒng)先進(jìn)工作者”稱(chēng)號(hào)；2人為首批省中青年科技領(lǐng)軍人才，29人次入選省“333高層次人才培養(yǎng)工程”學(xué)術(shù)帶頭人和省“青藍(lán)工程”中青年學(xué)術(shù)帶頭人培養(yǎng)人選，2個(gè)省級(jí)科技創(chuàng)新團(tuán)隊(duì)，2個(gè)省級(jí)高等學(xué)校優(yōu)秀教學(xué)團(tuán)隊(duì)。學(xué)校連續(xù)兩次被評(píng)為“江蘇省師資隊(duì)伍建設(shè)工作先進(jìn)高校”。學(xué)校學(xué)科發(fā)展態(tài)勢(shì)良好，科研實(shí)力增勢(shì)強(qiáng)勁。近五年科研經(jīng)費(fèi)累計(jì)2.3億元，年均科研經(jīng)費(fèi)4600萬(wàn)元；承擔(dān)或完成國(guó)家級(jí)項(xiàng)目25項(xiàng)，省部級(jí)項(xiàng)目196項(xiàng)；通過(guò)省部級(jí)科研鑒定86項(xiàng)；獲國(guó)家科技進(jìn)步二等獎(jiǎng)1項(xiàng)，國(guó)家技術(shù)發(fā)明二等獎(jiǎng)1項(xiàng)，省部級(jí)科研成果獎(jiǎng)34項(xiàng)（其中一等獎(jiǎng)5項(xiàng)）；專(zhuān)利申請(qǐng)量進(jìn)入全國(guó)高校百?gòu)?qiáng)。據(jù)省教育廳統(tǒng)計(jì)，學(xué)校近三年絕大多數(shù)科技指標(biāo)在省內(nèi)122所高校中，排名在前10%，連續(xù)兩次被評(píng)為“江蘇省科技工作先進(jìn)高校”。學(xué)校還被評(píng)為“2008—2009年全國(guó)知識(shí)產(chǎn)權(quán)維權(quán)援助優(yōu)秀合作單位”，是江蘇省唯一獲得此項(xiàng)榮譽(yù)的高校。學(xué)校堅(jiān)持開(kāi)放辦學(xué)，十分重視對(duì)外交流與合作。以中外合作、學(xué)術(shù)交流以及科研合作為重點(diǎn)，積極推進(jìn)國(guó)際化人才培養(yǎng)戰(zhàn)略，先后與加拿大圣西維爾大學(xué)（St. Francis Xavier University）和愛(ài)爾蘭國(guó)立大學(xué)梅努斯（National University of Ireland Maynooth）等高校開(kāi)展合作辦學(xué)。同時(shí)，積極為國(guó)家支柱產(chǎn)業(yè)、地方經(jīng)濟(jì)建設(shè)及社會(huì)發(fā)展服務(wù)，與中國(guó)石油化工集團(tuán)公司、中國(guó)石油天然氣集團(tuán)公司以及地方政府、企業(yè)等建立了全面合作關(guān)系。學(xué)?；A(chǔ)設(shè)施齊全，辦學(xué)條件優(yōu)越。設(shè)有武進(jìn)校區(qū)和白云校區(qū)，占地面積1500畝，擁有建筑面積49萬(wàn)m2。學(xué)校教學(xué)科研儀器設(shè)備總值1.73億元，紙質(zhì)圖書(shū)120.7萬(wàn)冊(cè)，并與進(jìn)駐常州科教城的135家知名大學(xué)大院大所的研究機(jī)構(gòu)為鄰，極大地提升了學(xué)校的辦學(xué)質(zhì)量和科研水平。在30多年的辦學(xué)歷程中，學(xué)校以“責(zé)任”為校訓(xùn)，形成了“勇?lián)?zé)任，追求卓越”的學(xué)校精神。同時(shí)，學(xué)校得益于各級(jí)政府、部門(mén)和位于世界500強(qiáng)第9位的中國(guó)石油化工集團(tuán)公司等單位的大力支持以及深厚地方文化底蘊(yùn)的孕育，夯實(shí)了教育教學(xué)的基礎(chǔ)，至今已為國(guó)家培養(yǎng)了3萬(wàn)余名具有“大工程觀導(dǎo)向的高等工程教育新模式”辦學(xué)特色的各類(lèi)專(zhuān)業(yè)技術(shù)人才和管理人才，為我國(guó)石油化工行業(yè)和地方經(jīng)濟(jì)建設(shè)與社會(huì)發(fā)展做出了突出貢獻(xiàn)。多年來(lái)，學(xué)校的知名度和美譽(yù)度不斷地提升。學(xué)校是“江蘇省高校校風(fēng)建設(shè)優(yōu)秀單位”，連續(xù)多年榮獲“江蘇省文明單位”、“江蘇省文明學(xué)校”以及“常州市文明單位標(biāo)兵”稱(chēng)號(hào)，并多次榮獲全國(guó)和江蘇省暑期大學(xué)生社會(huì)實(shí)踐活動(dòng)先進(jìn)單位。學(xué)校還被授予“全國(guó)綠化400佳單位”和“江蘇省花園式校園”稱(chēng)號(hào)。 Jiangsu Polytechnic University (JPU) is situated in the beautiful city of Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, famous for its rich resources and outstanding talents. Founded in 1978, JPU was originally named the Jiangsu Institute of Chemical Technology. It was then known as Jiangsu Institute of Petrochemical Technology (1992 – 2002). In 2000, the Institute was incorporated into the Jiangsu Provincial Government, co-sponsored by the Central and the local government. In November 2002, the name Jiangsu Polytechnic University was officially approved. JPU was empowered to grant bachelors' degree in 1984 and in June this year it was empowered to grant masters' degree. During the past twenty-five years, JPU has been offered help and support by people from all walks of life, and, together with them, the people of JPU have contributed to building the university into a dynamic and vibrant institution of higher learning with emphasis on engineering, combined with science and integrated with arts.JPU now owns two campuses: Baiyun and Wujin with a combined area of more than 100 hectares and 11,000 full-time students. The University has ten departments. They are: Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Business Administration, Information Science, Foreign Language, Environmental & Safety Engineering, Material Science & Engineering, Law and Physical Education. Additionally, JPU possesses three colleges---Adult Education College, Helda College and College of Applied Technology. Helda is a self-sufficient and public-owned college. JPU provides five masters' programs, 41 bachelors' programs and five undergraduate programs. The programs cover six categories. They are arts, science, economics, engineering, management and law. The masters' programs are Material Science & Engineering, Chemical Engineering & Technology, Environmental Engineering, Oil-gas Storage & Transportation Engineering and Chemical Engineering Processing Equipment. JPU recruits students from twenty-six cities, provinces and autonomous regions in China. Fifty percent of the University's full-time teachers hold senior professional titles. More than twenty teachers have been awarded the Government Special Subsidiary. Eight have been awarded the Province-wide Outstanding Experts with Contributions. More than ten have been entitled Excellent Teachers of the State (or Jiangsu Province). JPU is ranked in the top 20 for its research capability among 100 universities (colleges) in Jiangsu Province. According to the recent retrieving statistics collected by China Science & Technology Information Institute, the retrievals by SCI, EI, ISTP etc. from the research papers by the teachers of JPU have been listed amongst the top 150 from among 1,000 universities in China.JPU has actively been developing exchanges and cooperation with universities home and abroad. It has built close links with Hong Kong Polytechnic University, National Sun Yat-Sen University, Taiwan, Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. Francis Xiavier University, Canada, Heriot-Watt University, Scottland, ect. Culture and academic exchanges and joint research members, and studentsin recent years. JPU now boasts its alumni of more than twenty thousand. In the future, JPU has acknowledged as an ideal academy to forester personnel and talents for the development of local economy and petrochemical industry. JPU's students all bear in mind the university's spirit: Responsibility. The university has been entitled as the Model University by Jiangsu Province Government.
